Hey everyone!! As some of you know I did a couple films in the small African country of Burundi. My good buddy Seth Chase is an independent film maker there full time, and has done work in Burundi for many Non Government Organizations, as well as some self generated projects. He recently shot a film for a competition, that depicts how easily violence flares and conflict is fueled in this country, as anyone can purchase a grenade for under $1 U.S. dollar. The film was entered into a competition, and placed among the top 3 from 200 submissions from over 40 different countries. He was also in New York last month presenting it to the United Nations Security Council on behalf of the Organization Oxfam, who is sponsoring the event. If he wins, he is given a $15,000 camera package, which would seriously further his work over here, and increase his capacity to capture Burundi and bring attention to it from all over the world. So….. Here’s how you can help!!
1. Go to www.shootingpoverty.org
2. Click on Bang for Your Buck.. This is the movie about Burundi
3. Underneath the movie screen and to the right of the words “Votes in Total” there are 5 social network icons, one of them being Facebook. ————>Click on the Facebook Icon.
4. Sign into your account
5. You will be redirected to a page in your Facebook that has a thumbnail and the words “Shooting Poverty - Watch Vote Share”. At the bottom of the page there is a button that says “Share”. Click on it.
6. Thanks a TONNE!! Your vote will be seen on Facebook, and will be registered on the Oxfam website.
7. Please watch the video! It is very well done, and explains a lot about the issues facing Burundi.
